Scriptural Rosary
Jesus Carrying Cross
A Lesson In Patience

"Lord direct your hearts, in the charity of God,
and the patience of Christ."
-2 Thessalonians 3:5

Catholic Rosary Myteries

Jesus carrying cross demonstrates the patience in the life of Jesus that you must imitate in order to find peace in your life.

You will find this peace by embracing suffering as Jesus cross was embraced. This fourth Scriptural Sorrowful mystery helps you focus on this heroic virtue of patience.

Become more familiar with Jesus cross in the scriptural rosary. After the cruel treatment of the crowning with thorns and the torturous scourging, Jesus was forced to carry His own cross to the place where He was to be crucified.

This is truly one of the most sorrowful events in the life of Jesus.

  • "And after they had mocked him, they took off the purple from him, and put his own garments on him, and they led him out to crucify him." -Mark 15:20
  • "And bearing his own cross, he went forth to that place which is called Calvary, but in Hebrew Golgotha." -John 19:17
  • "And they forced one Simon a Cyrenian who passed by, coming out of the country... to take up his cross." -Mark 15:21
  • "And there followed him a great multitude of people, and of women, who bewailed and lamented him. But Jesus turning to them, said: Daughters of Jerusalem, weep not over me; but weep for yourselves, and for your children. For behold, the days shall come, wherein they will say: Blessed are the barren, and the wombs that have not borne, and the paps that have not given suck. Then shall they begin to say to the mountains: Fall upon us; and to the hills: Cover us. For if in the green wood they do these things, what shall be done in the dry?
  • "And there were also two other malefactors led with him to be put to death." -Luke 23:27-32

Let us pray

Almighty and everlasting God, look upon the Heart of Thy well-beloved Son and upon the acts of praise and satisfaction which He renders unto Thee in the name of sinners; and do Thou, in Thy great goodness, grant pardon to them who seek Thy mercy, in the name of the same Thy Son, Jesus Christ, Who liveth and reigneth with Thee, world without end. Amen.
